General Aviation Maintenance
- The KBFS General Aviation (GA) Maintenance program is collocated with a Part 145 Avionics Installation and Repair Station at Temple Draughon-Miller Airport.
- The shop provides inspections, repairs, services, and equipment installation for most GA fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, as well as select legacy aircraft.
- The team is led by a Chief Mechanic with over 30 years of aviation maintenance experience.
- Staff includes FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanics with training from the U.S. Military, technical schools, and other higher education institutions.
Airframe, Engine, and Electrical Repairs
- FAA-mandated scheduled inspections for General Aviation aircraft make up a significant portion of KBFS’s maintenance operations.
- The team performs unscheduled maintenance and repairs for airframe, engine, and electrical system malfunctions.
- A&P technicians assist the Avionics section with inspections, troubleshooting, analysis, and system-specific repairs beyond avionics installations.
- Scheduled aircraft weighing is conducted to maintain accurate and up-to-date weight and balance data.
- After repairs, the General Aviation Team completes a full Quality Control Inspection with an FAA-certified IA, followed by ground and air functional checks by the Chief Mechanic.
